Pawan got his Masters’ in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas. He started his career with Tata Consultancy Services and then moved to Silicon Valley, California, in 1996 and worked with several companies in Hi-Tech. Soon after, he founded a software company specialising in server-side technologies in Palo Alto. After exiting his software business, he relocated to Bangalore, India.

Gagan got his Masters’ in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas and started his career with Tata Unisys. He then moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1996 to work on the software architecture for high speed networked printing systems for Xerox Corporation. After a couple of years, he relocated to New Delhi and founded Obgenix Software, which specialised in creating highly scalable software systems.
The White Teak Company was established in 2016 by Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs Pawan Mehta and Gagan Mehta, after they relocated from Palo Alto, California to Bangalore, India.
The White Teak Company was acquired by Asian Paints on 1st April 2022.
In 2016, while India’s lifestyle market was on its growth trajectory, Pawan and Gagan noticed that decorative lighting options were extremely limited in India and restricted to unorganized, local spaces. The finest luxury products manufactured in India were mostly exported and the Indian market had almost no options in designer and decorative lighting of international standards.
Pawan and Gagan created The White Teak Company to bring international standards of lighting design and quality to the Indian market. As the nation’s largest designer and decorative lighting brand, The White Teak Company showcases the massive impact lighting has on interior design. Our products demonstrate how something like lighting can bring harmony to the entire look and feel of a space. Lighting can completely transform the mood of a room, if and only if you have the perfect products and designs in place.
We, at The White Teak Company, provide the Indian consumer with an extensive range of designer and decorative lighting products to help them take full control of their spaces. Our tech-enabled website www.whiteteak.com delivers to 36,000 pin codes across India from our warehouses in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Our seven stores (with five more coming up soon) are designed as Experience Centres where you can interact with our products and get to know them before making them integral parts of your spaces.
